A little over a year after its successful launch, the International IP Strategists Association (INTIPSA) is seeking a new Chief Operating Officer (COO) for INTIPSA.  Current COO Mike Sharpe, who has almost completed his 12-month appointment, is stepping down -- though the good news is that he will be continuing to support INTIPSA's various activities until a new COO is in place.

INTIPSA informs IP Finance as follows:
"Ideally we are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in IP and who would be able to devote 1-2 days a week to the Association’s activities over the next 12 months. This person might be:
  • recently retired and who would enjoy the opportunity to represent and contribute to INTIPSA’s professional goals; someone between jobs; or
  • an IP post-graduate who has an interest in developing his/her IP network and CV (for which this would be ideal).
The COO could be based either in Europe or the US.
The main objectives of the COO are to grow INTIPSA's membership, work with partners and secure sponsorship through promotional activities, marketing and networking. The COO would also oversee the adminstrative activities of the association such as the bank account and uploading new content to the website. The COO would have the full support and input from the INTIPSA Board members who play active as well as director roles. The COO would also contribute to regular discussions at Board meetings. Remuneration would be contingent on securing members and sponsorship.

The Board members providing support are:
Jon Calvert – Co-Chair
Jackie Maguire – Co-Chair
Ralph Eckardt
Ian Harvey
Ben Goodger
John Pryor
Matt Dixon
Serena Tierney
There are also plans to appoint an administrative assistant to support the COO".
If you think you might be the right person for this position, email Ian Harvey (Director, INTIPSA) at first instance and let him know.

Mike Sharpe (Chief Operating Officer, INTIPSA -- the International Intellectual Property Strategists Association) has let it be known that the organisation is hosting a webinar on Tuesday 17 January, entitled "Brands, Tax and Finance".  He promises:
"We’ll be discussing IP tax regimes, transfer pricing and the IP issues around offshoring of brands. Panellists: Steef Huibregtse of Transfer Pricing Associates, Anne Fairpo of Atlas Chambers [and the IP Finance weblog] and Serena Tierney, former Head of IP at O2, Telefónica, Disney and Diageo [though not all at the same time ...]".
Registration and further details are available on INTIPSA's website here.

If any reader of this weblog is signed up for the webinar, will he or she please report back on the most exciting and/or useful bits.  And can that person let know whether "brands", in this context, only means consumer brands, or whether those unfashionable things, business-to-business brands, have any significance in this context ...

big game hunting ...
Yesterday's IP Finance post mentioned INTIPSA, the International IP Strategists Association. By sheer coincidence, the blog has received news that the organisation has a webinar coming up next week on the topic "Where Will Your Next CIPO Come From?"  According to the synopsis:
"Peter Spours from Tom Tom and Andrew Sant from Crown Holdings will be reflecting on their experiences and career paths in IP and discussing the future of the Chief Intellectual Property Officer role".
This webinar takes place next Wednesday, 30 November, at 15:00 GMT. Further details and registration are available via the INTIPSA website at www.intipsa.com

IP Finance is seeing an increasing degree of interest in INTIPSA -- the International IP Strategists Association. Indeed, in the past few weeks I have received a number of emails asking whether this weblog will be mentioning the organisation's existence.

To put the record straight, IP Finance has written about INTIPSA. Almost exactly one year ago we published this post which alerted to readers to the intended formation of INTIPSA and to the LinkedIn group which preceded it.

INTIPSA now has a busy website, a handsome logo and great prospects for the future. This weblog wishes it the best of luck and looks forward to its contributions to the well-being of IP business strategy.
